The iPad can use VPN networks for accessing servers in a distant locale. There is an icon in your iPad's menu to activate a distant server as a result of a VPN network. Just look under the community tab. At that issue you just enter the facts that is requested, including treh server tackle. Speak with a member of the network administration group to assist if you can not do this.
