In 1966, two seat F 105s were converted to operate in the Wild Weasel role replacing the F 100 as the Thuds were better suited for this type of operation. Aircraft were equipped with SEAD or Suppression of Enemy Defense systems, and the 2nd crewman was an Electronic Warfare Officer.
